You have selected LEED AP without Specialty / Legacy LEED AP

You are credentialed under the LEED AP NC, CI or EB exam tracks, or you completed testing prior to April 2009.
Presently, you want to upgrade to LEED AP with Specialty or remain LEED AP without Specialty (Legacy LEED AP).

LEED APs without specialty or those credentialed prior to April of 2009 are commonly called "Legacy LEED AP."

To meet your professional goals, you have these options:

Option A - Upgrade to LEED with Specialty

To upgrade to a LEED AP with Specialty, there are two (2) options. You may either upgrade through re-testing - that is, take the new version of the LEED AP with Specialty Exam -  or through a prescriptive education program. Note: the prescriptive option is a limited enrollment window. After the last enrollment window closes in October of 2011,  anyone wishing to upgrade to LEED AP with Specialty will have to retest. The LEED AP with Specialty signifies an extraordinary depth of knowledge in green building practices and specialization in a particular field. You may choose from one the following LEED designations:

NOTE: Currently, you may only upgrade through prescripitve education for the following specialties.

  • Operations + Maintenance (O+M)
  • Building Design + Construction (BD+C)
  • Interior Design + Construction  (ID+C)

Option B - Retain the Older LEED AP Credential

Option 2 requires no further action - you can remain a Legacy LEED AP without Specialty. However, if you would like to upgrade to LEED with Specialty after the enrollment window closes, you will have to start over again, beginning with the Green Associate Exam as if you were never credentialed.
